Patrick, The zip algorithm is quite different from the /400's save compression algorithm, so this is expected. Try putting a zip file from a PC in the IfS and then doing a SAV to a save file with DTACPR(*YES) - there should be significant compression in that scenario, too. It's only when the algorithms are very similar, such as zip compression and asynch modem compression, that there's no gain expected from the second compression step.
