CPW on 510/2143 = 77.7 We upgraded from a 510/2143 to a 720/206F with an interactive feature of 120 CPW, (which is a P20 group). Yes it is possible and I don't know about the pricing/performance of the new models. If you don't need to upgrade now, I would wait. BUT get a quote today for the upgrade and see what you will NEED and what a new license will cost for the machine that you will NEED. BTW the 720 screams. Compiles happen before the screen refreshes telling you that it was submitted, and that is with 100 or so green screens running as well as many servers. If I remember correctly the 720 is rated at a CPW of 420. Depending on your connectivity needs and DASD requirements, you may get away with upgrading to a new 270. Christopher K. Our BP just told us that Jun 30 is the last chance we have to upgrade this box to a newer model. We asked for a quote based on this: Upgrade to a 7xx series but go down from the P30 to a P20. He was totally flabbergasted. I just thought I would check if this is possible ? Or based on today's announcements, should I just wait until they drop the prices on the 7xx and buy a new box ? Also, does anyone know what the CPW would be on the 510 ? When it came out, they didn't use CPW. Makes it difficult to show management that we would not be losing horsepower by going to the lower processor group when we don't have the same type of measurements.
