In order for the AS/400 FTP server to create a PF to store the data in
it needs a record length. It will create the PF with a record length
based on the length it sees in the first few records transferred. If
subsequent records have a longer record length then the server chops off
the excess and sends you that helpful little message. Record wrapping
only occurs for binary transfers but then you don't get translation. The
solution is to pre-create the file with the maximum record length
expected - or of course you could get an FTP server that can wrap
records ;-)
