We have moved our AS/400 (running V4R4) to a DMZ for future access from the
internet.  For our internal users we then redirected from the internal side
of
our firewall to DMZ allowing telnet, ftp, etc.  This all seems to work fine
except that the telnet sessions (and it doesn't seem to matter which
emulator
the client is using) after a period of inactivity (usually within the hour)
get
disconnected.  The system values for the inactivity and disconnect are both
set
at 2 hours and we get disconnected well before that.   I have looked at the
jobs
running named QTVDEVICE.  They show entries with message id TCP2552.  It
appears
because of our access via the firewall, we need to adjust the Session Keep
Alive
Timeout value in the CHGTELNA command.  The question is, to what value.
Since
it uses a *CALC currently I don't know what to adjust it to.

Does anyone have any experience in this area, OR I'am I looking in the wrong
place in trying to resolve this problem?
