I have the eRPG book, I guess I wasn't reading as closely as I should. I am
working on a "superclass" procedure that will just give you the input string
to feed into the QtmhCvtDb API. I guess once you have the input string
(whether by STDIN or query string), the trimmed length would be the correct
value for the API...

I've done a bit of CGI in the Unix environment, and use PHP3 (a server side
scripting language) extensively. PHP3 just "hands" the program all the input
variables. It doesn't matter if they are POST or GET (although you do have
the option to see each set by itself).

It is in the CGI programmers manual... it is buried, but it is there.  It's
also in eRPG!  ;)
