Re:loading a PTF w/DST?

I was told by BPS to load a PTF while doing an IPL and go into DST.  They left a
voicemail so I don't have clear instructions on what I'm supposed to be doing. 
Has anyone else ever loaded a PTF using DST?  If you have, would you mind
listing for me how you went about doing such?  Also, why would you load a PTF
using this method instead of the GO PTF options?
