try VPN. The client logs on, (from any PC), to your VPN server with a user
id and password. This does not fit the requirement of being licensed to ONE
PC with a password but does control access to your AS400. The PC client is
connected via SSL so all the data is encrypted. We use MochaSoft for our
remote access. A site license was $250.00 for unlimited number of clients.
We use this within our VPN to access our AS400 that is not on the Internet.
The VPN server was a couple of Gs but not real expensive. The VPN client is
free from M$ as an upgrade to the Dial up Networking, DUN. This is also
some software that has to be distributed to connect to the VPN server. I
believe that the PC network name is added to the VPN server to control what
PCs can access the VPN server.

Subject: PC connection tool

Hello all,

Does anyone know of a PC software utility that sits on the client and
allows a secure connection to the AS/400 over the Internet? It should
have some sort of security key so the utility cannot be moved to another
PC, and require a password to allow its use. I have a client that wants
to allow its customers to have access to his AS/400 but doesn't want to
open up the IP address to just anyone sniffing around.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Wayne
