Ahhh, OK!  That makes more sense.

I think you're SOL.  Even if you didn't INZTAP CLEAR(*YES), I'm not sure a
DMPTAP will save you.

How desperate are you?  If the tape wasn't cleared before you "overwrote"
with the latest save and the file you're looking for was saved physically
past the end of the newer save, the data is still there on the tape, it's
just that the AS/400 plays dumb after the newest end-of-tape marker.  It's
been several years since I've had to deal with tapes, but perhaps a
bit-twiddler can help you recover the file.  Anybody know?
