Colin, Did the vendor provide the data in the data base? If not, the data belongs to the client. That does not mean that the vendor is required to provide file layouts. You may need to read the fine print on the license agreement. Personally, it's this type of vendor "trap", that is all too common, that was a contributing factor in my decision to open source my applications.
