     Yes you are right about using the =, but you can not use a hardcoded 
     workstation id with =. i.e. IMTD001/= will not give a connection while 
     &USERN/= works fine.

This shouldn't be a problem if you use an equal sign rather than an asterisk 
at the end of the workstation ID.  In this case the sequence will be 1-9 
then A-Z, but it will use the first device available, not the session 
identifier.  If this works as it is supposed to, the first session on system 
A should have a device name ending in 1 and so should the first session on 
system B.
