Am I correct that I am now using the virtual > device that my coworker was using when he started EDI? There is some way to force virtual device addressing to always give the same # system for same physical device, instead of default QPADEV* # next available. I am not up on precisely how that is done, but it is critical to do when your application software was written with the assumption that a workstation is a physical device & a user of that device will have the same session sign on every time. This can affect messages, work areas for batches of transactions, recovery from aborted tasks ... a lot of application stuff just cannot work right if you do not get the same virtual address every time you sign on from whatever real location you are in.
