Re: Logical File with Field being substringed as a Key

Hi Debbie,

1) You can substring character, hexadecimal, zoned field, or graphic fields.

2) Redefine the character field as a zoned decimal, then substring it, e.g.

Physical file:
      A          R RECA
      A            FIELD1         5A

Logical file:
      A          R RECB                      PFILE(FILEA)
      A            FIELD1         5S 0
      A            FIELD1K            I      SST(FIELD1 4 2)
      A          K FIELD1K
