Fortunately, IBM's strategies are always subject to change. After all, if
we were all swayed by the 'strategic' label, we'd all be running SAA on
OS/2!

If enough loyal AS/400 customers use the AS/400 as a web server, then IBM's
strategy can be changed yet again to support them. Despite IBM's views of
what the server du jour is, I think it still makes legitimate business
sense to deploy your web applications on the most securable, robust
platform available.

Subject: AS/400 as a web server

Recently I read an article that stated IBM's grow-the-market strategies are
being reserved for other IBM servers,
not the AS/400. We are an AS/400 shop, soon to be implementing a web
server
which I hoped would be an AS/400. I am
disappointed and reluctant to use an AS/400 because it doesn't sound like
it is
in line with IBM's long term plans.

Any comments....
