Thank you. You're information makes sense to me. My boss is pretty good on performance tuning. Your clues should be of assistance. Your ideas about tuning SQL make sense also. Have tested the debug and it is a good idea. Still remember John Sears sessions from years ago at COMMON on logical files, (or do we call them views or indexes now?). John retitles his sessions to appeal to the latest buzz words but they usually boil down to the same basic message, and are still valid. joberhol@compures.com on 03/21/2000 03:28:19 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com@Internet cc: Fax to: Subject: Re: NET.DATA demo from COMMON, Round 2 <*snip> Boss has heard that net.data can have a performance impact. <*endsnip> The Net.Data macro will only have a performance impact if the SQL is written poorly. You also have to make sure the memory pool where the Websphere server is running has sufficient activity level and memory to support the activity levels.. It will use as many as 60 threads to start up and periodically use that many depending on what else is going on. In my experience that is where the performance hit is, bad tuning and bad SQL. The operating system can make up for bad code, not even OS/400. Test the SQL statements with debug turned on and check the job logs for messages to tune the SQL. See other threads in the archive for tips on that topic.
