I know many at News400 including Wayne Madden and respect their values. No matter what they say, I don't think collected personal information that resides on a computer disk can ever be protected on the Internet. I just finished reading an article in the Wall Street Journal about eLoan.com and how they have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars auditing their www site to be absolutely certain that no sensitive information (imagine) could get siphoned off and/or looked at by someone else. Sadly, after all their heroic efforts they have concluded that they cannot. The net is too intense in that regard. Their problem is less their own site and more the sites they are linked to by contract or through acquisition (doubleclick.com). Just look what David goes through to keep midrange-l clean. It's work and there is always some new situation to deal with.
