Hi Dan,

First, we should get our directions straight. I consider the AS/400 to be
"above" PC's, so going from a PC to the AS/400 is uploading. On my version
of Client Access, this is reinforced by a little up arrowhead on the "Send"
button on the 5250-display toolbar.

So the simple way is to download the AS/400 file (empty, or with only 1
record in it) to the PC, specifying that it save the .FDF file (Field
Definition File), and using Basic Sequential or Comma Separated Variable as
the PC file type.

When you upload (from the PC to the AS/400), specify that same .FDF file,
and the same PC file type.
