Are they familiar with PGP?  Pretty Good privacy is reasonably well 
accepted most places.

Does anyone know how I could encrypt a FTP transmission from the AS/400 to
a non AS/400 system via the Internet?

We want to transfer customer bill information to a bill paying 
service.....
