This used to happen on occasions with our machines but hasn't happened for a while now. I do recall it happenning particularly regarding backups. After doing an ENDJOB(*IMMED) and the job does not end, you can then (after approx 10 minutes) do an ENDJOBABN which sometimes clears the job.
