  • Subject: crash estimating db (or software) for AS/400

Good day,

I am searching for a database containing crash estimating (labor hours &
maybe parts) for a body shop operation, akin to the Mitchell books.
Mitchell only offers stuff for windows (why has no one heard of the AS/400?)
and the same applies to every other mainstream supplier of crash estimating
software and databaseswhich I have found. I am trying to talk one of them
into selling me a subscription to a database which I can export to ascii and
transfer to my as/400, but with one possible exception, they don't want to
talk about it... If I could figure out what db format Mitchell's uses, I
could just subscribe to their windows cd and go, but I don't have a great
number of windows db types covered - it is not excell... though it could
well be foxpro or any of a number of others...

I am more than willing to write my own code to access it on the 400, if
I could just get a useable data subscription.

Has anyone any suggestions? I have talked to Mitchell, CCC, AllData,
and am currently whining to MOTOR. I hope I have made this clear enough.
If anyone has an idea and doesn't want to clutter the list with it please
e-mail me at R_C_DuVall@daaokc.com . Thanks in advance.

Regards
Rick
