George, Good to hear from you. How's the gang at Weyerhauser? Say Hello to all for me. You can get a number of the books PDF style via the web at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/v4r4eng.htm or which ever version you need. I've downloaded a number of these to one of our servers for easy access. And of course if you have Adobe Acrobat, or similar, you can build your own bookcase/bookshelf type of menu. Regards, Jon A. I found it in the "memo to users" that came with our software box. I hope the following helps you (at least short term): I found that the second CD in the "AS/400 Information Center" CD set is V4R4 "softcopy library". I've been able to read (most) of the books with the copy of the PC "IBM Library Reader for Windows" (aka Bookmanager) I have installed on my PC. I say "most" because I found at least one book (about all the new stuff in V4R4) that fails to open with the message "cannot be read with this version of the library reader". But most of the books I use work with the back level reader (which I got with the softcopy library for OS/400 V3R2....) On the "softcopy" CD there are the usual directories for "books" and "shelves" that the Bookmanager uses. There is also a directory call "ilrwin". This has an "install" program that Win '95 (no we haven't moved to Win '98 or Win 2000 yet) recognizes as an installation program. Looks like the executables are there in compressed form. (There also appear to be directories with the PC DOS only and OS/2 versions of the program). I'll close with a question that only IBM can answer: Any thought to distribution the books using Adobe Acrobat? The viewer can be distributed at no charge. At the IBM AS/400 Technical conference ALL the presentations were distributed in Acrobat format with a reader included to boot! IBM AS/400's web site (and the book library) use Acrobat as well. This works VERY nicely. Since IBM has removed INFOSEEKER assuming that we all have PC's -- why not drop the expense of maintaining bookmanager? (OK OK I'll get off my soapbox!)
