To all: I want the actual length of a field and was under the impression you could nest BIFs as in the following: Eval Len = %Size(%Trim(SomeField)) The compiler (CRTRPGMOD) gives me "RNF0321 - Parameter %TRIM(SOMEFIELD) for %SIZE is not valid; %SIZE is ignored." The RPGIV manuals don't show or reference this specific example, but Bryan Meyers' book "RPG IV Jump Start" specifically says you can do this, with this actual example. I was even sure I had done it somewhere else, but a FNDSTRPDM shows no hits, so I guess I haven't. I'm on a V3R2 CISC so %Len is not available. Does anybody know for sure?
