you mean what is the difference between typing: FTP 'LOCALHOST' versus FTP '127.0.0.1' or FTP '183.234.32.53' (if that is your public IP of your AS/400) There is actually no difference once you get into the FTP server. There might be a difference in a few milliseconds for it to resolve LOCALHOST to 127.0.0.1. Personally, I type ftp 'localhost' as it's much easier to type than ftp '127.0.0.1'.
