This is not a bad recommendation.  I use it also, but in addition 
to paging software.  However there is one critical situation you 
should be aware of.  If you are tight on disk and exceed your 
threshold, then email will not go out from your 400.  This may be a 
situation in which you want to be paged and you will not if you are 
using an email solution.

Maybe easier way is to use an email/pager gate of your pager company.
I use such gate to send messages from any 400's msgq. It's only 1 minute
to delay.
