> I guess I'd better start learning AIX and Linux. Shrug. This situation is strange. Linux is great for experimentation and development; it's perfect for computer science students. But it seems to me to be totally wrong for business. While much of the code is of high quality, the quirky nature of the commands makes them seem silly in comparison to CL's rigid, controlled, and consistent interface. At the same time, it doesn't matter that the AS/400 is extremely advanced. Show someone a 5250 terminal and they will mentally trash the entire system, thinking that it's old. I detest windows; I don't think there's been a day in the last year that I haven't experienced at least one explorer crash. My thinking for improvements in my company involves replacing the machines that currently run windows with linux or OpenBSD and X. It's free, pretty, efficient, and the users like it. If this is the new model that IBM envisions, I think it's great. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
