That doesn't address the problem. If you create a virtual printer XYZ1 it
creates a device described OUTQ XYZ1.
We have OUTQ described printers which is a totally different type of OUTQ.
If I put XYZ1 in my Query, the printout goes to outq XYZ1 then I would have
to move it to newprinter OUTQ.

You can create virtual devices that point to nowhere. Use
device Category *PRT and device class
*VRT. We do this to create a printer named HOLD on our
systems.
