Bill, > The settings on the 5294 are: > field 1: 00 > field 2: C1 > field 3: 0110000000 > > The line description is setup as SDLC, 9600 NRZI - yes, duplex - full. > The controller is *RWS, *SDLC, EXCID = 045000C1, stnadr - C1 > The device is *DSP, class - *RMT, type - 3180, Model 1. Well as I recall, Field1 of 00 means SDLC so that is correct. Field 2 of C1 means the Station address is C1, also correct. Field 3 0 means Leased line 1 Means Full Duplex 1 Means Point to Point 0 means NRZI and the others don't matter much. Soooo, the config parameters you list are apparently correct. > Questions: > How do you set up the 5821s for this environment? So it appears to be in the modems and I am clueless on those. It would appear that because you get some flickers the system is attempting communication but some response by the modem is NOT what is expected so the line failes. 7855's should also work just great in this environment. One thing to check is if the line is a 4wire or 2wire. The modem needs to know this. If it is a two wire you may need to change the 5294 and the AS/400 to *HALF duplex.
