I wish the editorial staff of the two mags would realize the following important fact: Your customers are now and will be for the next decade mostly RPG programmers. Not CGI programmers. Not Java programmers. Not NT sys admins. Not Webmasters. We may all do those things, but we have other (and better) resources for information about them. We get and pay for the /400 magazines to get info about the /400, CL, and RPG. Period. If you want to have one or two articles a month on other topics, OK. If you feel that nothing more can be said about subfile programming or data validation, OK. But stop telling me month after month that I am stupid for coding in RPG, that my boss is stupid for deciding to use this technology, that if I don't force my company to spend a million dollars replacing all the stable terminal with flaky PC, retraining all the users, and replacing all the software that I will be flipping burgers in six weeks. I don't need your ivory tower analysis, and especially don't need to pay over $100.00 a year to be abused by your staff of writers. </old codger> There. Now I feel better and can go back to making my company more profitable. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
