AS/400 LAUDED FOR SECURITY

For the fifth year in a row, the National Security Agency recognized
OS/400 with its C2 security evaluation award. The box was also
recognized for its cryptography implementation of Data Encryption
Standard (DES) as conforming to the Federal Information Processing
Standard (FIPS) 46-2 and for its AS/400 Secure Hashing Algorithm
(SHA-1) implementation as conforming to the standard specified in
FIPS 180-1.

"Our customers have come to expect nothing less than the highest
security standards," says Tom Jarosh, IBM AS/400 general manager,
"and we continue to deliver year after year." Meeting these
government-approved standards is imperative to many businesses, such
as banks and financial institutions.
