Other perils include such things as automatic reprinting of damaged
forms by
modern laser printers. For check printing you have to turn that
feature off so
as to not wind up re-printing a spoiled check on the subsequent wrong
check #.
You just want to "spoil" it and reprint later.
Fraud perils include someone stealing your preprinted check stock, using
your
printer to print fraudulent checks, or someone altering a legitimate
check to a
larger amount.
After considerable discussion, we decided to use a solution which allows
us
to print our checks on "blank" check stock. We print the check
form, logos,
the MICR bank routing information, check number, etc. on blank check
safety
paper. The system is based on a standard Lexmark printer
with a custom
MICR solution provided by Source
Technologies . We were very impressed
with the system they proposed and are currently implementing the one
shown
on the web page link above. Unfortunately we are doing this on
a PC lan as
part of a PeopleSoft implementation. (I'd be a lot happier if
it were on the
AS/400, but ...). However I would think this would work equally
well in an
AS/400 environment and I'm sure Source Technologies can provide details
for
you.
I'm sorry about the length of the response but thought the background
might be
useful to you as you proceed. Let me know if you need contact
information.

Hi,--I guess this could be an easy question. I have a check printing program.
Depending on the bank I want to pickup different tray of the printer. I have
no Idea of how I can do that. What kind of parameters should I consider if
the printer could be hooked up to network or AS/400.Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Anil.
