Nope.  I haven't broken off any pins yet.  I've always found either a 
switch, jumper or a setting to get modems to work.  Some solutions are 
easier to find than others.  The question is what does the 400 want.  I 
used to know a network person in IBM that was great with this kind of 
stuff.
