Is there a way to retrieve this and write it > to a file? I know this one (sort of)! I'm not sure about your second record capacity. Due to changing production environment dynamics, I just wrote a program to convert user defined files to a new version of BPCS based upon a DSPFD to an outfile. I'm not on the /400 right now so I can't give you the field names, but If the first record capacity is zero, *NOMAX is the record capacity. It also contains the _original_ capacity of the file prior to any extensions. RTVMBRD NBRRCDS(&NBRRCDS) will give you the _current_ capacity of any file that has been extended, although I'm not sure how multiple members should be handled. In order to port to UNIX, more recent versions of BPCS don't use multi-membered files... HTH, Dean Asmussen Enterprise Systems Consulting, Inc.
