The thought had crossed my mind but I'm not very familiar w/ GDDM. If I don't get any better suggestions I will check it out.

I hesitate to suggest such a kluge, but have you thought about GDDM? It
will work with AFP, but it is processor intensive to generate such large
fonts - and the fonts are not as attractive (or numerous) as the AFP fonts
are. If you're really stuck, it'll get you by...
