Thanks for the reply.  Yes, we do have PSF/400 (5769SS1  V4R4M0    5114    OS/400 - PSF/400 Any Speed Printer Support) and have done a lot w/ AFP/IPDS.  And we have a special MICR font which we use for check printing so I know we can do fonts, etc.  Just haven't been able to find any variable size fonts on the AS/400 which we can use.  We need one which will be 72 pt.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

David,
You must have the PSF/400 to utilize different font "sizes". You may have different fonts but to have different sizes for the fonts you need the PSF/400 licensed product. You must have a printer defined to the AS/400 that supports AFP.

You can purchase an AFP Font collection for $500 with over 1,000 fonts. However, to fully utilize these fonts you licensed program PSF/400 which costs 2,000 for a 1-20 ppm printer.  Additionally, you would probably want the AFP Print Suite Family - which varies in price based on your AS/400 processor group ($750 - $4000).  This was detailed in Midrange Computing magazine by an IBM rep about 1-2 years ago. However, the article assumed that you had already purchased all the prerequisite products - which of course made it look like a very attractive deal. Just beware of the "small print" or in this case the "missing print".

Also, please note that if you are currently on an OS/400 version prior to V4R4 and you have a printer defined as AFP you will not be able to print to this printer after a 70 day grace period from your install date unless you do purchase the PSF/400 product. We sent a newsletter out on these specs. If this will be an issue for you call me at 800-932-3380 and I will send a copy of the details to you.

Does anyone know of an AS/400 font that allows for different pointsizes?  The example below in the manual indicates that it's possible but I can't find any font on our AS/400 which is and I can't find anyway to create one.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
