Well... let's see, about 15 years ago, I had to work with a small scale interfaced to a serial port on a (it doesn't exist anymore, doesn't matter); the scale was used to weigh rolls of newsprint (in the neighborhood of 500 to 3000 pounds, depending on whatever). There also was a barcode reader interfaced to a glass tube as a keyboard device. I know there are barcode readers today which interface as a keyboard device; I've just never used one. I also don't know if they play with 525x's either... But, it will be a lot of fun, esp. in Java... We would like to have scales connected to the serial port of a PC which read in data and place it directly into a 5250 display. We would like to do the same with bar code readers as well. --------------- Wish list. My preference would to write something in Java and use IBM Network Stations. Does anyone know if this would be possible. But first things first. -- Regards, Nathan Simpson Australian Wool Handlers nathansimpson@optusnet.com.au +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
