Well, strictly speaking, Bill and Co. did in fact write their first 
     product. Microsoft Basic for all of the homebrew PCs back in the dark 
     ages. While it was not really a "new" product in terms of function, 
     they did make it to support a market that had nothing else to work 
     with (sounds familiar, huh? <g>)

        The only ideas Bill Gates came up with were to purchase or rip off other
peoples great ideas. Gates didn't code DOS for IBM, he bought it for $50K 
outright then "leased" it IBM on a per machine basis. MS-DOS evolved by 
buying or stealing other coders enhancements to the original product. As 
Microsoft evolved, most small development companies dreamed of having MS 
knock on the door to buy their firm. Other firms that wished to remain 
independent ended up having their idea stolen anyway (ie: Stac compression).
     
        I gotta stop now before I blow a gasket.
