The only ideas Bill Gates came up with were to purchase or rip off other peoples great ideas. Gates didn't code DOS for IBM, he bought it for $50K outright then "leased" it IBM on a per machine basis. MS-DOS evolved by buying or stealing other coders enhancements to the original product. As Microsoft evolved, most small development companies dreamed of having MS knock on the door to buy their firm. Other firms that wished to remain independent ended up having their idea stolen anyway (ie: Stac compression). I gotta stop now before I blow a gasket.
