I upgraded to V4R4 over a month ago and had to switch to the QAQQINI file from the QQQOPTIONS data area. There was not a formula to effectively set the INI file, so it was trial and error. Step 1 is to copy the INI file from QSYS to QUSRSYS for global use of the file. I edited the file in QUSRSYS and changed the OPTIMIZE_STATISTIC_LIMITATION record to fit my environment using the Percent option, which basically tells the query optimizer what percent of the file to read before making a decision on the logical to utilize. The day after my upgrade an SQL job went from running in 30 seconds to taking a hour to complete, this is when I started adjusting the INI file. The book with a little info is the SQL programming manual starting on page 543. I suggest calling IBM support and requesting the Query optimizer team explain how the optimizer now works, it is to detailed for this posting. The new file QAQQINI is not exactly well documented, another bloody Info Center manual. Does anyone know what settings to use to duplicate the data area's purpose? Ie. What would you put in the file to replicate the data area if the data area was 'C0080'? It would be easier if the new file doco told you how to migrate instead of just telling you they have superseded the data area.
