John:
We have done many PC to AS400 EDI projects. While I think that a total
AS400 solution is the cleanest, sometimes it can be very costly, especially
for 1 trading partner. We resell a product from Eventra called QualEDI. We
have dealing with them for almost 10 years, get great support and their
product works VERY well. The integration is pretty straight forward. The
package costs $1650-single trading partner/stand alone, $2500-single trading
partner/front end, $2500-Multiple trading partner/standalone and
$3200-multiple trading partner/front end. The stand alone product basically
allows printing EDI documents that come in and keying data into the EDI
system. The front end configurations allow for import/export of an
interface file for complete integration. You probably would need the single
TP/front end configuration, for $2500. If after a while you need to bring
on an additional partner, you would pay the difference in price to upgrade
to the multi partner system.
John, if you like we can talk off line about this, either email me at
cgalgano@ediconsulting.com or call my office at the number below. I am out
of town the rest of the week though, so email is probably better.
Regards,
CJG
