The people getting the benefit of the enhancements would for the most part
be Operations Staff,  that;

1.  Ain't gonna learn RPG
2. Ain't gonna learn Java
3. Ain't gonna learn Rexx

They just want to write a function to Vary On devices, or Start up Printers,

or Save Objects, or or or other operational stuff.
And the new RPG enhancements will not benefit them.

 would say no as well. We don't need programs written in CL alone. I hate
CLs that have screens in them. Use RPG!

CL is what it is.. Control Language.

Now, if you were to look at the other side of the coin, adding the ability
to perform CL from RPG would be a plus. This is, of course, without writing
your own procedures that do this (which works well anyhow).

Embedded CL in an RPG program, or even new RPG opcodes that do CL stuff.
Now THAT would be a great enhancement and would solve the original posters
problem as well.
