Carl,

By the way, the name is Dan (Bale)! Don't worry, though, you are only the
851,147th person to do that! ;-) (Hey, when I visit my Dad down south, people
always spell my last name "Bell". I wonder why!)

No need to apologize, I have hardly any comm skills to slight anyway! But I am
surprised to read that IBM won't support the modems they recommend. Especially
since they helped me through several phone calls on a modem that was _not_ on
their list of supported modems. Hmmm.

Dale:
I see your point, but sometimes get frustrated when I see IBM soutions when
they are not the best, because the reason is that IBM won't support them.
Granted, IBM is GREAT in a lot of areas, especially the AS400, but I'd
rather buy best of breed and I think the UDS (Motorola) modems are far
superior to the IBM. At least with the Options modems, IBM had a modem
manufacturer make the units and the Options modems are better than previous
IBM units. Not to say that IBM modems did not work, they always did, but I
just like the ease of configuration on the UDS models. I have installed al
lot of IBM, UDS and zillions of other modems.
I didn't mean to slight your comm skills, if I did I apologize, and there
are certainly comm gurus on this list server than know MUCH more than I do.
Regards,
Carl
