ok let me be stupid -- MIDRANGE-L

I am trying to determine what a particular AS400 model would be best used
for. Are particular systems designed for primarily batch work or
querys/interactive ??? I am looking at a  Model S30.   Is there a book or
web sight that would give me this information.  I keep hearing that certain
models were optimized for servers or production.  Where does this
information come from?
