Hiya folks...

Well, opening day was a boomer...Sunday that is. The expo was busy but
the pathways weren't overly stuffed...the expo could have handled alot
more... Every vendor I spoke with was v.happy with the Sunday crowd...

Opening session on Sunday was OK from what I hear....not steller... The
whole tone here seems to be much lower keyed. It's good and positive, but
not all the hype, flash and glitter of past ones.

Vendors today (Monday) are either resting from the onslaught of Sunday or
wishing they had more traffice....I expect expo to be a ghost town on
Tuesday....

Expo content obviosely skewed towards net items...alot more education
vendors than I've seen in the past. Decent quality goodies...not alot but
not alot of schlock stuff either...

Opening session on Monday was OK...not earth shaking. Jarosh promising to
start marketing the 400 as a better server system than NT....yeah, I'll
believe that when I see it.... I expect we'll see some sparks in the
shortened soundoff this pm...I've got a couple ready and not sure what Al
has up his sleeve right now... Jarosh also started raving about his
business partners....Uh, he'll get a earfull on that this pm at
soundoff...IBM just needs to start policing them as we're seeing hardware
sales not happening due to shitty software coming out of some unpoliced
BP's...fortunately, they're in the minority (also checkout

Nora's back on the Board, Charlie's elected and if anyone knows anything
about the 3rd BOD'er, I'ld like a pvt email cuz I haven't a clue about
her...and can't find anyone that does have a clue....

But all in all, off to a more subdued but busy start....lots of net
stuff...as usual they would sched JAVA classes in small rooms that
naturally blowout...

Pentasafe's new password product is v.thought provoking...look for a
article on it soon in my Spotlight column... Dec Data has a interesting
inet connectivity in a box that I found of interest....and there's a group
that claims to have a utility that can undelete records, files, members...
Uh, look for a Spotlight on that one also....

Speaking of thought provoking, was anyone at Howl at the Moon Saturday
evening :) :)

Some doinks have already stolen both of my coffee mugs at the LUG table
that I was using for collecting business cards...if that's you I hope you
choke and spill boiling hot coffee on your shorts!

No cybercafe....bummer....the laptops that are setup don't have the
terminal configs for Telnet set right, but the PC supporters think that's
the way it's supposed to be...sorry guys, passwords aren't supposed to
echo on the screen...

Anyway, I've just chugged down my Schlotzky's and now it's back to
sessions...

Don in DC....relocated to Dick's Last Resort in San Antonio for Common...
