Actually, for Windows/NT it was quite a gentle crash. I was able to end the
task, restart Outlook and carry on. The problem didn't recur, because I
didn't repeat the mistake of trying to jump to the previous message. The
keyboard didn't lock up, my NS/Elite sessions survived and my network
account didn't get disabled. Who says NT isn't robust? :-)

Can't you just see the programmers in the design room at MS: "How should

handle dates prior to the creation date of our software?" "How about lock
up
and crash, after all that's Impossible and so will never happen!".
