We've done about 118 "manual" upgrades directly from v2r2 CISC to v4r2 RISC.
(This was too big a jump for the Roadmap to handle.)

The Roadmap is definitely the preferred method; but if you have a good
reason, are careful and do your homework, you'll be fine.
