How many user profiles? How many custom/customized subsystems, job descriptions, jobqs, prtqs.... If you are dealing with a small system, re-enter it. I have had a problem with user profiles that were created prior to VxRx and could not be used for this or that. I found that the applications was the least worry. Lost all spool files, one damaged user profile, OV400 really #$%^ed up. If both machines are running side by side, connected via LAN, you got it made. Recreate it all one piece at a time. Very time consuming but less problems down the road. A complete system restore with included qusrsys and qgpl, no other q lib's, caused many problems down the road. Device descriptions, lines, controller all had new resource names and had to be deleted and recreated. What a headache. I would follow the road map to the "T". Take your time and doc every thing. Nothing hardware wise goes forward Data files present NO problem...(All in one library) Source Files present NO problem ..(All in another library) Object members present NO problem .. (All in another library) but: Authorities: (what to do about that) Save & Restore ?? User Profiles (How to take them across) Recreate them All ?? Communications Descriptions (How to get them across) Retrieve source ??? Most of these problems have common sense answers but I would still like to see comments on how you would handle the "but" situations.. I KNOW the best solution(Road Map) but that's not an option... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
