  • Subject: RE: Shared Folders via PC Support under V4R3

We ran into a password problem when we converted from a V2R2 system to a
V4R2 system. The problem was with user profiles that had been created on an
even older version (around V2R0 I believe). Apparently, IBM changed the
password encryption method during one of the release upgrades. The RISC
boxes can't deal with the old encrypted passwords. The only solutions that
we found was to have the users change their passwords before converting to
RISC (they will then get encrypted into a format that the RISC box can deal
with) or have the security officer change the passwords after converting.
