Since I worked with IBM midrange systems on 7/7/77 and 8/8/88 and never
noticed a thing, I'm not at all concerned about 9/9/99.

Buck, I would tend to agree.  Unfortunately some of our department
representatives bought into this urban legend and insisted we test this date
as part of our functional area tests.  Nothing ever failed, obviously, for
the reasons you stated.  I hope the paranoid ones out there don't work
themselves into too much of a frenzy over this date.
