I wanted to look at deleted records in a save file and I tried to go to the midrange archives because I remember some posts on this, but something funny seems to be happening (www.midrange.com) and I can't get in. I wrote a quick RPG to read the save file (am I totally on the wrong track here?) and I get the following message when I run the program. Message ID . . . . . . . . . : CPF4187 Message file . . . . . . . . : QCPFMSG Library . . . . . . . . . : QSYS Message . . . . : Record length not valid for save file TEMP in QTEMP. Cause . . . . . : The record length specified to open the file is not valid for an online save file. Recovery . . . : Change the program to open the file specifying either no record length or a record length of 528. You may need to delete the program and create it again to make this change. Try the request again. Technical description . . . . . . . . : The records in an online save file are always 528 bytes long, and will not be padded or truncated by the system. You cannot direct a program that specifies a secondary record length to use an online save file. I compiled the RPG over this save file... what can I do to make the program happy? How do I change the program to open the file specifying a record length of 528? Again, am I completely going down the wrong track?
