  • Subject: Re: Monitoring NT servers, was paging

Interesting remark about monitoring NT servers. We had an NT server that
locked up a couple of times a day. We ended up writing a CL program to ping
the NT server every x number of minutes. If two consecutive pings failed it
paged us. We didn't use our paging software for this. Our paging vendor has
an email service, if you want to use it. For example if my paging number was
2195551212 I could send email to 2195551212@epage.arch.com and I'll get the
page. And we can use the SNDDST command to send email to there. See
http://www.arch.com

I'll be glad when IBM comes up with a DID board for the 400. Then we can get
rid of that NT server. We use it for inbound Domino faxing.

Same Here.
You can send email, page, send to a MSGQ, run programs, etc. on an
event or lack of an event (i.e. server program is not running).
We use it to monitor our network routers/bridges with ping.
It can also be setup to monitor NT servers (this feature is Extra)
