I'll probably go with the 256 char that the RFC calls for...haven't 
decided how to handle the screens.

But no, we wont tell them to get a life.  It would be even worse for 
us....our "bosses" are also known as "customers"...who can be even 
more demanding than any management type person I have worked for (as 
is their right!).

I respect your opinion, however we have a customer that is mushrooming 
in size.  Their internet standards are a little primitive yet.  Their
email addresses exceed 54 characters.  Telling our bosses that we 
think
they should get a live & a new ISP wasn't in the book 'How to win 
friends
and influence people'.

Have you thought about variable length fields in your database?

Opinion time.  How big should an Email address field be?  I know 30 is 
to small.  is 64 large enough?  I suspect anybody who has one that is
128 should get a life & a new ISP.

What do you think?
